Just Sittin' Here Waitin' on Wednesday #13

This wonderful meme is based on the one started by Breaking the Spine

The weather is rather blah today,
so I thought that for today's WOW I
would present a fireside worthy read.

This book was turned into one of my favorite movies
and I am so anxious to find out what they didn't put in the movie.

Title:  The Witches of Eastwick
Author:  John Updike
Publisher:  Ballantine Books
Expected Release Date:  March 13th, 2012
Toward the end of the Vietnam era, in a snug little Rhode Island seacoast town, wonderful powers have descended upon Alexandra, Jane, and Sukie, bewitching divorc√©es with sudden access to all that is female, fecund, and mysterious. Alexandra, a sculptor, summons thunderstorms; Jane, a cellist, floats on the air; and Sukie, the local gossip columnist, turns milk into cream. Their happy little coven takes on new, malignant life when a dark and moneyed stranger, Darryl Van Horne, refurbishes the long-derelict Lenox mansion and invites them in to play. Thenceforth scandal flits through the darkening, crooked streets of Eastwick—and through the even darker fantasies of the town’s collective psyche.   -Goodreads

I wonder if I can read this book without thinking of Cher and Jack Nicholson?
We'll See!!!!

  1. That's one of my favorite movies too!

  2. You know, I never saw the movie or read the book. I *did* watch the short-lived tv show a few years back. Does that count? :)

  3. I haven't read the book, or seen the movie. I should get on that, eh?!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I love comments, so please leave a few.
