Beatrice Alexander is still adjusting to life as a secret special agent, wiping out zombies and other supernatural threats. Now, a new case requires partnership with her annoying and gorgeous vampire co-worker Oliver. Clubbing with the undead turns bloody when Oliver's old enemy, the vampire lord of Dallas, turns up.  -Goodreads

This book is a hodge podge of paranormal goodness.  With a snarky female lead character who is trying to resolve issues that center around her telekinetic ability and her job as part of a secret paranormal task force.

The first thing that readers will notice is that, though Bea finds herself in some very hair raising situations, her ability to see the humor in a situation never falters.  This proves very important at times when there is a lull in the action, a scene is being set or  police procedure are highlighted
Having not read the first book in the series, the nuances of Bea's relationship with the other character's versus her relationship with Oliver was lost on me.  As a result, the tension and banter that starts out fun and cute, soon gets a little old.

The action and sheer number of paranormal beings and abilities found in this book is enough  to  keep you coming back for more, and the detail and care given to character development is second to none.

All in all...this is a great read, especially when read as part of its series.  I do plan to go back and read the first book so that I can better understand the wonderful characters that I have come to know and love.

About Jennifer Harlow:
Jennifer Harlow spent her restless childhood fighting with her three brothers and scaring the heck out of herself with horror movies and books. She grew up to earn a degree at the University of Virginia which she put to use as a radio DJ, crisis hotline volunteer, bookseller, lab assistant, wedding coordinator, and government investigator. Currently she calls Northern Virginia home but that restless itch is ever present. In her free time she continues to scare the beejepers out of herself watching scary movies and opening her credit card bills.
