My Thughts
There are strange things going on at Lovecraft Middle School; and Robert Arthur is right in the thick of things.
Between the rats, giant squids in lockers, and portals to other dimensions, one never knows what to expect from one page to the next.
This is a very easy story to get into and the 168 pages seem to fly by.  This is the perfect read for mid-grade ghouls and goblins.  The action never lets up and each scene is more descriptive than the next.  There is just enough scare for goosebumps, but not enough for bumps in the night.  There are also wonderful illustrations.
The only negative to this read was the fact that the ending was a little rushed.  A few more pages or a chapter or two would have made for a more complete end.

The second book is "peeked" at the end of the first and appears to pick up where the first stopped.  Hopefully this will help smooth some of the rough edges of the first read.
