Today's royalty and celebrities often have to resort to rather far fetched tactics to keep the 'whys and wherefores' of their nuptials out of the non-blinking sight and ever-listening ear of social media.
Inglorious Royal Marriages provides readers a candid and no holds barred look at what life and marriage was like for those 'rowdy royals' of old. At a time when "Twitter" was strictly for the birds, and "Facebooking" involved actual books.
Whether it be marriage to a monkish monarch, or dealings with a dallying dauphin, every story is well worth its weight in sordid situations.
Right down to the story of Isabella Romola de Medici and Paolo d'Orsini, and Eleonora di Garzia di Toledo and Pietro de Medici.
This tale of marriage, money, and mayhem is one so full of vendetta and bloody corpses, that it would make the most seasoned mobster proud.
