Are The Literary Bonds Strong Enough To Hold Readers "Captive"?

 My Thoughts
Wtf did I just read?
This is a case of curiouser and curiouser turning into stupider and stupider!
While it is understandable that a person is going to make mistakes. There is no reason that making mistakes should become one's only reason for being. Sadly though, this is the case for main protagonist Kitty Doe/ Lila Hart. It is in fact, her willful bumbling that serves as the catalyst for every plot twist this story has to offer.
Not to worry though.
Predictably enough, there is always someone there to either take her place on the chopping block...or
save her.
That savior most irritatingly often being Knox, her/Lila's token fiancée and general pain in the ass.
Who surprisingly enough, one is never sure is a goodie or a baddie.

There are some OMG moments in the latter third of the book that are sure to throw readers for a well deserved loop, and lull you into the very false belief that EVERYTHING that you have suffered
plot-wise has been worth it for said OMG moment.
This is not true people.
The afore mentioned nonsense does return with a vengeance right after the OMG.

The one saving grace that that serves as a constant bright spot in this read has to be the fabulous characters that are found here. There were no small characters or small roles here. It is often the action of some secondary character that helps one to overcome some stupidity on the part of a star player.

This book is case of "I don't really know where I want this second book to go."
Here's hoping for a better book in Queen.
