Vincent Moretti is one of the NYPD's top homicide detectives-and one of the most eligible bachelors in town. His family, however, thinks he should date his longtime partner, Jill-a sassy, sexy, smart-mouthed blonde who drives him absolutely crazy.

Behind the quiet authority, tough-guy demeanor, and dark aviator glasses lies a man with a big soul-and a hard body that can soften any girl's heart. After years as his coworker, Jill Henley has given up hope that anything could happen between her and Vin. Besides, loving him would break all the rules. But seeing Jill with someone else triggers feelings in Vincent he never knew he had. Now he'll have to stop playing good cop/bad cop-and find a way to convince her to be his partner for life. . .

My Thoughts
Detective Vincent Moretti is a man known for going with his gut.  A man who is able to fight crime based on observation,  fact finding prowess, and his unique "golden hunch."
What he can't seem to trust however, is his fickle heart.  Even though the object of his desire is as close to him as any member of his family.

For her part, Detective Jill Henley, has long ago given up the ghost of any hope of being anything more than Vincent's friend and partner.
When Jill returns to work after months of helping her mother to recover from a protracted illness in Florida.  A great tan and sun bleached hair are not her only souvenirs of her time in the sun.

With time running out on a high profile case involving the murder of a silver screen legend.  A clock of a different sort seems to be ticking on decisions of a more personal nature, for the introspective and emotionally guarded gumshoes.

Cuff Me is a classic case of, "We know where this is going...now to watch it get there."   There can be no doubt that Vincent and Jill belong together; after as little as their first interaction.  The fun of reading this story comes in witnessing all of the angst, drama, and emotional vacillation that these to go through, (both individually and together) before the epiphany hits.

It is the quest for said epiphany that serves as the driving force behind this story's readability.
This doesn't mean that the criminal and procedural aspects of this story don't hold a certain appeal.
They do.
As does the love triangle of sorts that Jill's character introduces to the story line.
But instead of being able to carry the story in their own right.  These elements do little more than act as gateways of interaction for our couple.

As far as the hot and heavy side of things.  Let's just call that " a slow burn."
Because so much of the story is spent in deny, evade, and ignore mode.  There are not as many opportunities for the passion that these two share to claim center stage.  That is not to say that its rather late showing is not worthy of a sigh or two however.  It most certainly is.

This is s great read for people who enjoy character driven, angsty, lusty, romance.  With just enough story to bring everything together.

*Reviewer's Note:  Cuff Me is the third novel in a companion series.  It may be read alone, or as part of its intended series.
