Owen looked at the door to the right of hers, then at the stairwell that led up to the second-floor unit. He shifted, and she was about to say goodnight and go inside when he finally spoke. “I wondered if you’d like to go out on the boat tomorrow.” His eyes held hers, like points of light she couldn’t look away from. “We could have some dinner. Watch the sunset.” “Like a date?” Of course like a date. Idiot. “Yeah,” he said, giving her that slow sexy smile again that made her lose all sense. “Like a date.” “Um… okay.” “Five o’clock? I’ll come by.” Before she could say okay again, he leaned in, and she held her breath. His body didn’t brush against hers. He didn’t touch her at all, except his lips against her cheek, but she felt him everywhere. His heat brought chills to her skin, and his scent filled her head, making her dizzy. Her cheek tingled, and for the seconds that it lasted, she couldn’t breathe. Then his lips were gone, but his face was still close, his eyes locked with hers. “See you tomorrow,” he said, with one last smile. She didn’t cover her kissed cheek with her hand, but the effect was the same. Standing, gaping after him, Charlotte felt as if she’d just been hit by a train. A sexy man train named Owen Anderson. .

My Thoughts

When Charlotte agreed to meet her father at a nice resort in Florida.  She had planned on doing a great deal of family bonding.  As happenstance and her father's busy schedule would have it, the only unknown in this entire affair?
Just whose family Charlotte would be bonding with.

Claudia Connor's Where I Belong is a wonderful illustration of the sentiment that home really is "where the heart is."
Charlotte has always been shy, reserved, and methodical.  She would most likely refer to herself as a planner.  Never fully recovered from the tragic loss of her mother; when she was young.  Charlotte has always been very guarded about both her body and her heart.
But thanks to a little cupid named Kyle, a big man with an easy smile and a gentle heart, and the matchmaking machinations of his even bigger family.  Charlotte will soon find that her corner of the world offers the final piece that both lives and heart need to make everyone involved whole.

This sweet and honest beach romance offers everything that those who love heart melting, forever love, love stories read for. Intriguingly enough, it is not the romance between leading lady Charlotte and leading heartthrob Owen that makes this read.  At least not at first.  No, that honor would have to go to an undeniably adorable boy of about 5 or 6.  Who claims the hearts of both Charlotte and readers within this novella's opening pages.

When Kyle's irrepressible spirit is paired with the warm accepting nature of his exuberant family, and the patient, kind, loving, and "oh so HOT" man candy that is Owen.  There is no way that Charlotte or her audience can not realize that this story, this man, and this love, are all "where they belong".

Reviewer's Note:  Though this book is part of a companion collection, it may be enjoyed as a stand alone.
