He is first and foremost—at everything. A man who's made his own way in the world through ruthless cunning and sheer force of will. A strong and imposing Scot who can turn on the charm but does not suffer fools. His title: Lord Chief Justice of the High Court. His name: Cassius Gerard Ramsay. IN THIS GAME OF LOVE, THE RULES DO NOT APPLY
Cecelia Teague was an orphan facing a rather dire future—until a secret benefactor from her mother's scandalous past swept into her life. Sent to prestigious boarding school and later to university, Cecelia believed high society was at her fingertips...Then, from out of nowhere, she became the inheritor of a gambling establishment. Now Cecelia must live two lives: one as a proper lady who finds herself undeniably drawn to Lord Ramsay and the other as a savvy gaming hell owner trying to save her business from the very same man. He has no idea she is both women...and Cecelia would like to keep it that way. But what happens when consuming passion and escalating danger threaten to reveal the truth?

All Scot And Bothered
by
Kerrigan Byrne
Dreyton Abbey, Shropshire, England, 1876 According to Cecelia Teague’s calculations, she approached the close of her second day in captivity. She couldn’t remember the last time her father had locked her in the cellar’s green room for so long. Perhaps he’d finally gone mad. Would he ever unlock that door again? Would the world forget she ever existed? The questions pecked at her in the gathering dark like carrion birds at a fresh corpse. She’d done nothing wicked or wanton. Nothing to merit her schoolmates’ violent cruelty nor her father’s pious fury.
My Thoughts
Kerrigan Byrne will forever be set apart as one of the few Historical Romance authors who manage to address modern -day issues; within a completely valid historical context. With coming off as preachy.
Or...
In any way compromising the overall fabric of the story. In which said commentary happens to be festooned.
Her second offering in the Devil You Know series. Being no exception.
It is in fact, within the pages of this latest series offering that readers indeed discover one of a young miss. Whom one would have good reason to believe to be one of Ms. Byrne's most beleaguered leading ladies. For no other reason than that of who she is as a physical, intellectual, and spiritual being. Only to triumph in the face of foe after foe. Armed with no other weapons than those found in the core of WHO SHE IS.
I proudly introduce Miss Cecila Teague.
A young woman who, from her most unfortunate childhood on. Found herself constantly beset by a world in which those who were in some way threatened by her size, her sex, or even the brilliance of her mathematical genius. Sought to ridicule, alienate, and even torture her.
A young woman who upon the death of her mysterious benefactor. Now finds herself facing her most daunting foe ever. The Vicar of Vice.
A man bound and determined to see all manner of societal ills crushed beneath his puritanical boot.
All Scot And Bothered is a book in which everything that can be going on is. And because of this one is never really sure how to feel or what to think at any given moment.
Especially when it comes to separating Cecila, the person and Cassius, the person from their respective societal roles.
Because while you are cheering for the romance that seems to be blooming between the two as people.
You are hoping against hope that Cecila isn't found out.
But at the same time, the inevitability of the two worlds colliding, remains a foregone conclusion.
But at its heart this book is also one about the costs of idealism. And how one can evolve beyond ideals as ones understanding of the realities of a thing are understood.
Such as with Ramsay and Cecila.
Score a big Bravo for All Scot And Bothered along with all who read it
